Create an event with its recommended setup

Set up a wedding, birthday or other event in three short steps, with suggested settings for the occasion.

What you will achieve

You have a new event, ready for you to invite guests.

Before you start

  • Your plan allows a set number of active events at a time. Events that are preparing, live or postponed count, including your teammates’ events.
  • Have the occasion, the names of the people you are celebrating, the date and the place ready. You can change them later.

On the web

    Open Events and choose Create event.

    In What & when, pick the occasion, add the people you are celebrating, and check the event name Sonize suggests.

    Add the date and time, the timezone and the location. To change what the event produces, choose Change next to the one-line summary.

    For a wedding, birthday, tribute or corporate event, read the Recommended setup box. Select Apply the recommended setup only if its changes suit you.

    Choose Save and continue. Your event is saved as a draft, and you see an example of the questions your guests will get. There is nothing to fill in; to try them yourself, choose Try it as a guest. Then choose Continue: invite your guests.

    Choose Share a link / QR, Add guests, or Later.

Expected result

The event appears in your Events list as Preparing, and its page opens on Guests or Overview, depending on your choice.

Important

Do not put private information about your guests in the event name. Guests see it on their invitation, the Song Booth and the recap.

Fix a problem

Problem: Sonize says the active event limit is reached.

What to doEvents finish on their own the day after they end. To free a slot now, choose Mark as finished next to an event that is over, or cancel an event you no longer need. A plan with more active events also raises this limit.

Problem: The event cannot go live.

What to doAdd a date and a timezone in Settings, then fix the blocking items in the event Checklist. On the web, it is in On the day, under Rehearsal. In the app, the next step on Overview lists them.

Problem: You applied the recommended setup by mistake.

What to doNothing is sent and nothing is charged. Open the event, change the questions in Questions, and turn the Song Booth or guest voting on or off in On the day.
