Reporting unlawful or infringing content
SONIZE SAS is a hosting service established in France. If content on Sonize infringes a copyright, a related right, a trademark, or your voice, image, or name, or is otherwise unlawful, you can notify us at any time and we act on the notice. Two routes reach the same team. Use the copyright-notice form published on this page on the Sonize website, at the path /legal/dmca, which asks for everything a valid notice needs; or write to contact@sonize.io. You do not need a lawyer and there is no fee. This procedure is our notice-and-action mechanism under Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act) and article 6 of the French law no. 2004-575 for confidence in the digital economy. The general EU option is not the United States DMCA procedure, and no declaration under penalty of perjury is required. The same form takes a report of an intimate image or video of you shared without your consent; we remove it within 48 hours of a valid report. A copyright owner in the United States can send a notice of claimed infringement to the same form, to contact@sonize.io, or by post to SONIZE SAS, 5 rue Jean-Marie David, 35740 Pacé, France.
What a valid notice must contain
Any person or entity may report suspected illegal content; you need not own the affected rights or act for their owner. Include:
— a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you consider the content illegal; — its precise electronic location or Sonize identifier and any additional details needed to find it; — your name and email address, except for notices concerning offences under Articles 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU, which may be anonymous; — a statement of your good-faith belief that the information and allegations are accurate and complete.
For a copyright claim, describe the work concerned. Postal address, phone number, signature, rights-holder authority and a privacy acknowledgement are not conditions for submitting a notice. Do not knowingly submit false allegations.
How we handle a notice
When you provide an email address, we acknowledge receipt without undue delay and notify you without undue delay of our decision and available redress. We process notices diligently, objectively, without arbitrariness and in a timely manner. Urgent threats to child safety or life require urgent handling; there is no 14-day waiting period. Without contact details we cannot send an individual acknowledgement or decision.
A notice gives rise to knowledge of the specific illegal content when it enables a diligent hosting provider to identify its illegality without a detailed legal examination; merely completing every field does not automatically establish that condition. Where we agree with a notice we remove or disable access to the content, and we may in addition restrict the account that published it, refuse comparable generation requests, and preserve the evidence. Decisions on a notice are taken by a person: in this procedure automated tools only surface and rank the queue, and never remove content or sanction an account by themselves. Separately from this procedure, the automated checks described in the Terms can keep a newly generated song off public surfaces before anyone reports it; we tell the author, say that automated means were used, and a person reviews the decision if they appeal. Notices are kept for six years from receipt as evidence, and a case still under review is never deleted automatically.
If your content is affected: statement of reasons and how to contest it
If we remove your content, disable access to it, keep it off public surfaces, or restrict or suspend your account, we send you a statement of reasons no later than when the measure takes effect. It says what we did and how far the measure reaches, the facts we relied on, whether a notice or an automated tool triggered it, the contractual clause or legal ground we used, and how to contest it.
To contest it, reply to that message or write to contact@sonize.io quoting the reference it carries; if the restriction blocks your account, the app shows you the appeal form directly when you try to sign in. A person who did not take the original decision reviews your case, at no cost to you, for as long as the measure is in force, and you receive a reasoned answer in writing. If you show us that the content is lawful and that you hold the rights to it, we restore it and tell the claimant. None of this prevents you from going to court, or to any out-of-court dispute settlement body available to you.
Repeat infringement and misuse of the notice system
We assess repeated infringement and repeated manifestly unfounded notices case by case, including their number, proportion, severity, and apparent intent. Under the Terms, an authorised operator may remove or disable content and suspend or ban an account; we may also reject or restrict abuse of the notice form. There is no automatic one-warning or per-feature sanction ladder. We send a statement of reasons no later than when an account measure takes effect, and the same appeal route applies.
United States DMCA procedure
A US notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) must substantially include: (1) a physical or electronic signature of the rights owner or authorized representative; (2) identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list; (3) identification and location of the material to remove or disable; (4) contact information sufficient to reach you, including address, telephone and email if available; (5) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or law; and (6) a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed. These US requirements do not apply to the general EU reporting option.
For a US copyright notice, select United States DMCA in the form. This option requires contact details, an electronic signature and the declarations displayed in the form; general EU notices do not require a perjury declaration. A counter-notice must identify the removed material and its former location, declare mistake or misidentification under penalty of perjury, and consent to federal court jurisdiction and service of process. We forward a compliant counter-notice, including contact details, to the original notifier. Restoration follows the applicable 10–14 business-day process unless we receive notice of a court action. SONIZE SAS has designated an agent with the U.S. Copyright Office to receive notifications of claimed infringement: Copyright Agent, SONIZE SAS, 5 rue Jean-Marie David, 35740 Pacé, France; telephone +33230964996; email contact@sonize.io. The designation appears in the public DMCA Designated Agent Directory of the U.S. Copyright Office. In appropriate circumstances we terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. A person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
