Using Sonize

You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials secure, and use Sonize only for lawful music, event, and social workflows.

Age and registration

To create an account, you must be 18 or older. Sonize does not currently offer child accounts or a parental-consent registration path.

AI music and rights

You are responsible for prompts, uploads, voice inputs, and event materials you submit. Do not upload content unless you own it or have all permissions required to use it. Between you and Sonize, you retain your rights in those inputs and grant Sonize the limited rights needed to process, moderate, host, back up, and deliver them through Sonize and the active generation provider. Subject to these Terms and provider restrictions, the license Sonize grants you in a generated song depends on the plan or pass the song was created under.

Free accounts receive a personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access, play, save for offline use where offered, and share the song inside Sonize. That grant does not authorize monetization, resale, paid distribution, release to streaming services, advertising, or audiovisual synchronization.

Paid plans and Event Passes receive, for songs generated while that plan or pass is active, a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable commercial license to use, perform publicly, reproduce, distribute, and synchronize the song — including at paid events you run, in your own commercial projects, and in advertising you control. The license survives the end of the subscription for songs already generated under it. It is granted to you alone: you may not sublicense the song or grant anyone else an independent right in it, so a client who needs commercial rights of their own needs their own paid plan or Event Pass. It does not extend to reselling the song as a standalone stock-music catalog item, to training other generative models, or to any use the active generation provider's own terms prohibit. Resellers and their child accounts hold this license through their own paid plan, not through the parent's.

In all cases you remain responsible for clearing any third-party material you supplied as input. AI outputs are not guaranteed to be unique, copyrightable, exclusive, or free from similarity to other works, and Sonize does not grant exclusive authorship in them.

Generated songs and cover art are identified as AI-generated on relevant Sonize surfaces. Where supported, Sonize preserves provider-supplied C2PA provenance; it is not an independent guarantee of origin or rights. Outputs may not be unique, and Sonize does not guarantee copyright, non-infringement, eligibility for Content ID, or ownership of any Content ID claim. Professional and business customers, including resellers and their child accounts, must pass these restrictions to every downstream user and obtain the input rights required for their use.

Cloud and generation providers may process inputs and output metadata globally under Sonize's applicable Data Processing Addendum. Audio previews and generations can be unavailable or refused; when a generation fails due to Sonize or a provider, the reserved credits are restored under the Commercial Terms. Sonize may moderate, remove, or respond to takedown requests for inputs or outputs as described in these Terms.

Content rules and moderation

Sonize hosts what you and other users publish: songs, cover art, lyrics, profiles, playlists, comments, reactions, and event material. You may not publish content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, impersonates a real person or artist, reproduces a real person's voice or likeness without their consent, sexualizes a minor, or incites violence or hatred. The AI Music Compliance document sets out the prompt, upload, and voice rules in detail and forms part of these Terms.

How moderation works. Automated systems screen prompts, lyrics, uploads, and published content before and after generation: keyword and classifier checks run by Sonize, and the safety filters the AI provider applies when it renders a song. Those systems can refuse a generation, keep a song off public surfaces, or place it in a review queue. They do not decide sanctions: removing content, restricting a feature, suspending an account, or refusing an appeal is decided by a person at Sonize. Reports from users and from rights holders are read by a person.

If we act against your content or your account we tell you what we did, which rule you broke, whether a report or an automated system triggered it, and how to contest it. To contest it, use the appeal form the app shows you when a restriction blocks your account, or write to contact@sonize.io quoting the reference in our message. An appeal costs nothing, is reviewed by a person who did not take the original decision, and stays open for as long as the measure is in force. Copyright complaints follow the separate procedure in the Copyright and Content Notices document.

Billing

Paid plans, credit packs, and Event Passes bought on the Sonize website are sold by SONIZE (Société par actions simplifiée (SAS)) and paid through Stripe Checkout; invoices, payment methods, and subscription changes are handled there and in the Stripe Customer Portal where available. Purchases made inside the iOS or Android app are sold by Apple or Google under their own terms, and only they can refund them. Prices, taxes, renewal, cancellation, withdrawal, and refunds are set out in the Commercial Terms, which apply to every paid order.

Suspension, termination, and closing your account

You can close your account at any time, on the website and in the mobile app, under Settings, then Privacy, then Delete account. The Account Deletion document explains what is erased, what we must keep, and how to ask if you cannot sign in.

Sonize can restrict a feature — publishing, uploading, generation — or suspend or terminate an account when it breaks these Terms, the AI Music Compliance rules, or the law; when it repeatedly infringes other people's rights or floods the reporting tools with unfounded notices; when it is used for payment fraud or chargeback abuse; or when leaving it open would expose Sonize or other users to a legal or security risk. We choose the narrowest measure that ends the problem.

Except where the law, a court order, or an immediate risk of harm requires us to act first, we tell you what we are doing and why no later than when the measure takes effect, and you can contest it as described in Content rules and moderation. If we terminate your account without you having broken a rule, you keep the licence in songs already generated and we refund the unused part of any period you have prepaid.

Warranties and liability

Sonize is supplied as it is described in these Terms and in the product. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, that a particular generation will succeed, that a song will match what you had in mind, or that an AI output will be unique or free of resemblance to existing works. Beyond those descriptions we give no warranty.

Sonize is liable for the damage it causes by failing to perform this contract. If you are not a consumer, our total liability for all claims arising in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid Sonize in that period, and we are not liable for lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, or damage that was not foreseeable when the contract was concluded. Those limits do not apply to death or personal injury, to fraud or gross negligence, to the legal guarantee of conformity, or to any liability the law does not allow us to limit. None of those limits and exclusions applies to a consumer: if you are a consumer you are compensated for the loss actually caused, and you keep every mandatory right the law of your country of residence gives you, including the free legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Code de la consommation).

Availability and changes

We may change or discontinue features to protect users, comply with law, preserve service reliability, or improve Sonize. Song access depends on the account, service availability, and the retention period described in the Privacy Policy; Sonize is not a permanent archive.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms carry a version and a last-updated date, both shown with this document. We can change them to cover a new or changed feature, to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, to close a security risk, or to reflect a change of price or of provider. We publish the new version and give notice of any significant change at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email to the address on your account and in the product. If you do not accept the change, close your account before that date; for a paid plan we refund the unused part of the current period. A change the law requires, or one needed to remove an immediate security or safety risk, can take effect sooner.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, that choice cannot deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live (Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, art. 6), you may bring a claim in the courts of that country, and you can be sued only there (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, arts. 17 and 18). If you are not a consumer, jurisdiction follows the ordinary rules of law. A clause giving jurisdiction to the courts of Sonize's registered office binds you only where both of us contracted as traders and the clause was stipulated in very apparent terms in our agreement (art. 48 of the French Code de procédure civile); a professional who is not a trader keeps the ordinary rules of venue. Before going to court, write to contact@sonize.io; we answer complaints in writing. An eligible consumer whose complaint is still unresolved may then refer the dispute, free of charge, to the consumer mediator Médiation Cmfm, postal address 19 avenue d'Italie - 75013 Paris, at https://mediationcmfm.eu/.

Connected music services

Music-account connections are optional. You authorize Sonize to find matching tracks and create the playlists you confirm in your own service account. Uncertain or unavailable tracks are skipped. The service’s access rules, subscription requirements and catalog availability apply. Disconnecting Sonize does not delete playlists already created in that service.

Sonize is responsible for its own product and support; Spotify is not responsible for Sonize. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sonize gives no assurances on Spotify’s behalf and excludes implied assurances of satisfactory saleability, suitability for a purpose or freedom from infringement for Spotify’s platform, service and content. You must not modify those resources, make derivative works from them, or reverse engineer, disassemble or decompile them, except where the law permits. Spotify is a beneficiary of these Terms and our Privacy Policy and may enforce these Terms directly. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer rights.
