Prompt and upload responsibility
Users must not submit infringing, deceptive, harmful, private, or unauthorized materials. Voice-related inputs require clear consent from the person represented. Do not ask for imitation of a real artist or submit artist names, songwriter names, song or album titles, label or publisher names, or recognizable third-party lyrics where the active provider prohibits those references.
Moderation
Sonize may block, review, remove, or limit generations and uploads to enforce safety, rights, privacy, platform, and payment rules.
Transparency
Sonize identifies generated songs, cover art and the clips made from them as AI-generated on relevant product surfaces and preserves generation/provider metadata. A Sonize provenance sidecar is integrity metadata, not itself a standards-based C2PA credential and must not be represented as independent proof of origin. Each generated audio file, and each video Sonize renders from a song (karaoke video, share clip and music clip), carries a C2PA Content Credential that identifies it as AI-generated. Sonize keeps a valid credential the generation provider has already embedded; otherwise Sonize issues its own. A credential issued by Sonize names the Sonize app and version and, where known, the generation provider, never you, and is time-stamped by an independent timestamp authority that receives only a cryptographic hash of the file. Users must preserve legally required AI disclosures when publishing or distributing outputs. While official issuance is pending, Sonize-issued credentials use a temporary self-signed certificate, not a publicly trusted signing identity. This does not establish C2PA conformance or a C2PA-trusted timestamp; verification remains limited by certificate validity.
These measures support the transparency duties in Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act). Marking does not itself establish legal compliance. Generated audio, and the videos Sonize renders from it, are marked in a machine-readable format that lets them be detected as artificially generated: the Content Credential described above. The music provider states that it also embeds a watermark of its own, Google's SynthID, in Lyria audio; Sonize does not verify that watermark. Newly rendered and newly copied covers support embedded Sonize Content Credentials under the configured signing policy. Under the required policy, the original and responsive copies are validated before storage. Valid source credentials are preserved; imported artwork of unknown origin receives provenance without an AI-origin claim. Previously stored images and legacy provider-cover archives are not backfilled by this process. Generated lyrics are text and carry no watermark today; covers and lyrics also have the AI-generated label shown with them. Re-encoding or converting a file outside Sonize can weaken a marking; removing or obscuring it so that an output passes as authentic is prohibited by the Terms. If you publish an output that resembles real people, places or events in a way that could appear authentic, it is a deep fake within the meaning of Article 50(4) and you must disclose that it was artificially generated or manipulated. For evidently artistic or creative work that disclosure may be made in a way that does not spoil the work, but it cannot be left out. The Help Centre article “Check whether a file was made with AI” (/help/check-if-a-file-is-ai-generated) explains how to check a file yourself.
Providers and human review
The music provider selected by the approved production routing chain may change by capability and availability. Failover occurs only after a proven pre-submission failure, so Sonize does not intentionally submit the same paid generation to two providers. Sonize does not promise that a configured integration is active. Automated safety systems may refuse or flag content; account sanctions and appeals have a human review path.
Commercial use, copyright and distribution
A commercial-use licence is permission under Sonize's terms, not a promise of copyright protection, exclusivity, non-infringement, royalties or acceptance by a distributor. Copyright depends on the country and the human contribution; purely AI-generated material may have no protection. Preserve records of your own writing, edits and other creative work. Before streaming distribution, check the distributor's current AI, impersonation and disclosure rules. A Sonize purchase does not register a work with SACEM or another collecting society. SACEM does not accept wholly AI-generated works; eligibility of human contributions needs individual assessment. Mandatory consumer guarantees remain available.
