Set up the questions for your guests
Choose the questions guests answer, set a closing date, and decide whether answers stay anonymous.
What you will achieve
Guests see the questions you want, with the closing date and privacy choice you set.
Before you start
- Ask only what the song needs. Avoid sensitive questions, for example about health or money.
- Decide before invitations go out whether to hide who wrote each answer. You can only turn this on before anyone answers, and the confidentiality promise cannot change once a guest has agreed to take part.
- Leave Generate a song as each guest submits off unless you really want it: it spends credits for each guest straight away, and you cannot leave an answer out first.
On the web
- 1
Open the event’s Questions tab.
- 2
If the list is empty, choose Start from suggestions. To add your own, choose Add a question and pick its type. You can have up to 64 questions.
- 3
Choose a question to edit its text, type, answers or Required question. Drag it by its handle to move it.
- 4
Set Close answers on to stop answers on a date, in the event's timezone, or choose Clear deadline to keep them open.
- 5
To hide who wrote each answer, fill in Purpose shown to participants, then turn on Hide who wrote each answer.
- 6
Check the result with Preview as guest. Edits save automatically until the first guest answers; after that, choose Review and publish.
Expected result
Preview as guest shows your questions in order, with the closing date and, if you turned it on, the confidentiality promise. Nothing you answer there is saved: to add your own answers to the song, choose Contribute myself.
Important
Once guests have answered, changes only affect future guests. Read the summary carefully before you choose Review and publish.
Fix a problem
Problem: The privacy setting cannot be changed.
What to doOnce a guest has agreed to take part, Sonize locks the confidentiality promise and its purpose, so no one is shown anything different from what they accepted. The questions are locked too. Hiding who wrote each answer can only be turned on while no one has answered.
Problem: Deleting a question warns that guests have answered.
What to doTheir answers keep the wording they saw; only future guests see the change. Cancel if you are not sure.
Problem: Guests see that the questionnaire is closed.
What to doThe closing date has passed in the event's timezone, or the event has ended. Move or clear Close answers on to accept answers again.
Problem: The questions cannot be edited.
What to doQuestions can only be changed while the event is preparing or live. A postponed, ended or cancelled event shows them read-only.
