Choose who can hear a song, share it, and download it
Keep a song private, share it with chosen people, or make it public. You can also download the songs you created.
What you will achieve
You decide who can listen to your song.
Before you start
- You can change these settings only for your own songs, once they are ready.
- A free song may need to be unlocked with credits before you can share, publish, or download it.
On the web
- 1
Open the song and choose Manage song.
- 2
Under Privacy & sharing, choose Private, Shared in app, or Public.
- 3
To send it to specific people, choose Share with someone. The Share sheet opens, where you pick people and choose Send. Privacy & sharing lists who has access, and you can remove anyone.
- 4
Public publishes the song right away. Choose Preview as visitor to see the page other people see.
- 5
To stop sharing with someone, choose Remove next to their name under Shared with.
- 6
To save the MP3 on your computer, choose Download in the same panel. A song generated on the free plan is for personal use only; one generated with a paid plan or an Event Pass can also be used commercially, as the Terms of Service explain.
Expected result
Privacy & sharing shows the option you chose, and Shared with lists the people who can listen.
Important
Choosing Public confirms that you have the rights to any names, voices, or references in the song. Anyone can then find it in Explore, on your profile, in Sonize search and through search engines, and see its title, cover, lyrics and your username. A public link can be passed on to anyone, so remove personal details before publishing.
Fix a problem
Problem: You can’t choose Public.
What to doIf your profile is private, change it in your Privacy settings. If Sonize removed the song from sharing after a review, open the song: its page shows the reason and Appeal this decision. The appeal is free and a person reviews it. Meanwhile, keep the song Private or Shared in app.
Problem: You can’t find the person.
What to doSearch for their Sonize username. If one of you has blocked the other, they won’t appear. If they don’t have an account yet, ask them to sign up first.
Problem: You want a link to send by message.
What to doMake the song Public, then choose Share at the top of the song and copy the link. The link to a private song only opens for you and the people you shared it with.
