Enable two-factor authentication

Add a second check to your sign-in with a code from an authenticator app.

What you will achieve

Each time you sign in, Sonize also asks for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Before you start

  • Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password or Authy.
  • Have your Sonize password ready. If you only sign in with Google or Apple, first choose Set a Sonize password in Sign-in & security.

On the web

  1. 1

Open Settings, then the Sign-in & security tab.

  2. 2

In Two-factor authentication, enter your password and click Set up two-factor.

  3. 3

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code from inside the app. You can also type the setup key into the app.

  4. 4

Enter the 6-digit code shown in the app, then click Enable two-factor.

  5. 5

Click Copy and keep your 10 recovery codes somewhere private.

Expected result

Two-factor authentication shows as Enabled with the number of recovery codes left. Your other devices are signed out, and you receive a confirmation email.

Important

Never share your setup key, the codes from your app or your recovery codes. Sonize support will never ask for them.

Fix a problem

Problem: The 6-digit code is refused.

What to doThe code changes every 30 seconds. Enter the newest one, and check that your phone sets its date and time automatically.

Problem: Your phone’s camera does not add the account.

What to doScan the QR code from inside your authenticator app, not with the camera app. You can also type the setup key into the app.

Problem: You no longer have your authenticator app.

What to doSign in with one of your recovery codes. If you have none left, contact Sonize support.
