Authoritative version: French. If versions differ, a consumer may rely on the version more favourable to them; for anyone else, the authoritative version prevails.

Using Sonize
You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials secure, and use Sonize only for lawful music, event, and social workflows.
Age and registration
To create an account, you must be 18 or older. Sonize does not currently offer child accounts or a parental-consent registration path.
AI music and rights
You are responsible for prompts, uploads, voice inputs, and event materials you submit. Do not upload content unless you own it or have all permissions required to use it. Between you and Sonize, you retain your rights in those inputs and grant Sonize the limited rights needed to process, moderate, host, back up, and deliver them through Sonize and the active generation provider. Subject to these Terms and provider restrictions, the license Sonize grants you in a generated song depends on the plan or pass the song was created under.
Free accounts receive a personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access, play, save for offline use where offered, and share the song inside Sonize, and to share links to it, and the share video Sonize generates for it, outside Sonize, including on social networks and messaging services. That grant does not authorize monetization, resale, paid distribution, release to streaming services, advertising, or audiovisual synchronization other than that Sonize-generated share video.
Paid plans and Event Passes receive, for songs generated while that plan or pass is active, a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable commercial license to use, perform publicly, reproduce, distribute, and synchronize the song — including at paid events you run, in your own commercial projects, and in advertising you control. Royalty-free means Sonize charges you no royalty. It does not release a venue or organiser from fees that collecting societies may charge for playing recorded music in public. The license survives the end of the subscription for songs already generated under it. It is granted to you alone: you may not sublicense the song or grant anyone else an independent right in it, so a client who needs commercial rights of their own needs their own paid plan or Event Pass. It does not extend to reselling the song as a standalone stock-music catalog item, to training other generative models, or to any use the active generation provider's own terms prohibit. Resellers and their child accounts hold this license through their own paid plan, not through the parent's.
In all cases you remain responsible for clearing any third-party material you supplied as input. AI outputs are not guaranteed to be unique, copyrightable, exclusive, or free from similarity to other works, and Sonize does not grant exclusive authorship in them.
Generated songs and cover art are identified as AI-generated on relevant Sonize surfaces. Sonize attaches a C2PA Content Credential identifying each generated song as AI-generated, either kept from the provider or issued by Sonize; it is not an independent guarantee of origin or rights. Outputs may not be unique, and Sonize does not guarantee copyright, non-infringement, eligibility for Content ID, or ownership of any Content ID claim. If you are a consumer, this does not limit the legal guarantee of conformity described under Warranties and liability. Professional and business customers, including resellers and their child accounts, must pass these restrictions to every downstream user and obtain the input rights required for their use.
Cloud and generation providers may process inputs and output metadata globally under Sonize's applicable Data Processing Addendum. Audio previews and generations can be unavailable or refused; when a generation fails due to Sonize or a provider, the reserved credits are restored under the Commercial Terms. Sonize may moderate, remove, or respond to takedown requests for inputs or outputs as described in these Terms.
Content rules and moderation
Sonize hosts what you and other users publish: songs, cover art, lyrics, profiles, playlists, comments, reactions, and event material. You may not publish content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, impersonates a real person or artist, reproduces a real person's voice or likeness without their consent, sexualizes a minor, incites violence or hatred, or promotes, glorifies or gives instructions for terrorism. When a competent authority orders us to remove terrorist content, we remove it or block access to it within one hour of receiving the order. The AI Music Compliance document sets out the prompt, upload, and voice rules in detail and forms part of these Terms.
Three kinds of illegal content are named here separately. Terrorism content: content that promotes, glorifies or gives instructions for terrorism, or that supports a group banned as terrorist; an account run by or for such a group is removed. Child sexual exploitation and abuse content: any sexual depiction of a person under 18, and any attempt to groom or solicit a child; we remove it as soon as we become aware of it and report it to the competent authorities where the law requires. Other illegal content: anything else that it is a criminal offence to publish under the law that applies, such as threats, harassment, fraud, or an intimate image shared without consent; we remove it or block access to it once we become aware of it.
How moderation works. Automated systems screen prompts, lyrics, uploads and published content before and after generation, and screen comments and event contributions before they appear. This screening uses keyword and classifier checks run by Sonize or by an AI moderation provider acting for Sonize, and the safety filters the AI provider applies when it renders a song. Those systems can refuse a generation, keep a song off public surfaces, or place it in a review queue. They do not decide sanctions: removing content, restricting a feature, suspending an account, or refusing an appeal is decided by a person at Sonize. The owner of a song can also remove comments posted under it; that is the owner's own choice, not a Sonize decision, and the comment's author is not told. Reports from users and from rights holders are read by a person.
If we act against your content or your account we tell you what we did, which rule you broke, whether a report or an automated system triggered it, and how to contest it. To contest it, use the appeal form the app shows you: on the song's page for a decision about a song, or when you sign in if a restriction blocks your account (if a whole workspace is suspended, its owner is directed to our Trust & Safety contact form or, for a reseller's client, to the reseller), or write to contact@sonize.io quoting the reference in our message. An appeal costs nothing, is reviewed by a person who did not take the original decision, and stays open for as long as the measure is in force. Each measure is decided by a person and stays in force until we lift it, for example after a successful appeal. You can also take the decision to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under article 21 of the EU Digital Services Act; this does not stop you from going to court. Copyright complaints follow the separate procedure in the Copyright and Content Notices document.
Complaints. Anyone, with or without a Sonize account, can complain to us about content on Sonize, about a decision we took or did not take on content or on an account, or about the way we handled a report. Use the form on the Copyright and Content Notices page (/legal/dmca), the “Report this content” link on public pages, or write to contact@sonize.io. A complaint costs nothing and is read by a person; if you give an email address, we acknowledge it and tell you the outcome.
The Trust & Safety contact form is available without an account at /legal/contact; unlawful-content notices can also be submitted at /legal/dmca.
Event guests
This section applies when you join an event on Sonize as a guest, through an invitation link, a QR code or an event code, without needing an account. Joining puts your first name, and your email address if you give one, on the event's guest list and opens the event's guest page to you.
Your contract. When you join, you make a free participation contract with SONIZE SAS (“Sonize”) under these Terms, including this section and the AI Music Compliance document. The organizer of the event is not a party to it, and the organizer's own contract with Sonize places no obligation on you.
How you accept. You accept when you press the button to join the event or, if you came through a personal invitation or a shared screen, the button that confirms your participation. Before that, you can read and save these Terms and the Privacy Policy in French and in your language. Sonize records the date, the version of the texts and the contract language you chose, and gives you a confirmation you can save. On a shared device, such as the Song Booth on a tablet, each person accepts for themselves, and no one can accept for someone else; each song made there is linked to the acceptance of the person who made it.
Age. You must be 18 or older to join an event or contribute to it. If you are under 18, do not use the guest page; the organizer or a parent can add a song request for you instead, on their own responsibility.
What you share. Where the organizer allows it, you can share answers, stories, messages, photos, audio or video recordings and song requests (your “contributions”). They are event material, covered by the “AI music and rights” and “Content rules and moderation” sections. Do not include sensitive information about anyone, such as their health, religion, political opinions or sex life, apart from a dietary or accessibility note you choose to give the organizer.
AI is the service. Sonize uses artificial intelligence to make the event's songs and content from the contributions, after an automatic check that may refuse a contribution or hold it until the organizer approves it. This is what the participation contract is for; it is not a separate option.
The event's songs. They are covered by the licence that comes with the organizer's plan or Event Pass. You may play, save and share the songs the guest page offers you, inside Sonize and by link, for personal, non-commercial use.
Taking back your contribution. You can take back your contribution at any time on the guest page or by writing to privacy@sonize.io. Your answers, the wall messages and stories you wrote, the media you added and the song made from your answers are then deleted from Sonize. This cannot reach copies that were downloaded or received outside Sonize before then.
How long data is kept. As the Privacy Policy explains: your contact details up to 90 days after the event, your answers and wall messages up to 12 months, and the event's songs up to 24 months, unless the organizer or a guest has kept a song in their own library. All of it is deleted sooner if the organizer deletes the event.
Cost. Joining an event and contributing to it are free. The only paid features are those you choose to use with your own Sonize account and that show a price, such as putting credits towards a Soirée song; the Commercial Terms apply to them.
End of participation. Your participation ends when you ask for your data to be deleted, when the organizer deletes the event or, at the latest, when your contact details are erased as described above. Sonize may refuse or remove a contribution, or end the participation of a guest who breaks these Terms, as described in “Content rules and moderation”, which also explains how to appeal.
Changes. A new version of these Terms applies to guests who join after it is published. If you have already joined, the version you accepted keeps applying, unless the law requires a change or a change is needed to remove an immediate safety or security risk.
Events held by a business. When the organizer is a company or another organisation holding the event for its activity, the organizer and Sonize are joint controllers (GDPR art. 26) for collecting guests' contributions and using them to make and present that event's songs. Sonize alone is responsible for the participation contract, the checking of contributions, the choice of providers, how long data is kept, security and the records of acceptance; the organizer alone is responsible for what it exports from Sonize or receives outside it. Sonize informs guests, including the people the organizer invites, through the guest page and the Privacy Policy, acts as their contact point and handles their requests, binds its processors, secures the service and notifies the data breaches that concern it, telling the organizer without undue delay. The organizer must have a legal basis to add invitees and give accurate details, must not ask for sensitive data, must use answers and songs only for the event, must not make taking part a condition of employment when the guests are its employees, and must pass on to Sonize within 5 working days any request from a guest that it receives. A guest may exercise their rights with either of them, and each answers to guests for its own part of the processing.
Weekly challenges
These are the official rules of Sonize's weekly song challenges. They are part of these Terms and apply to every challenge. Each challenge also has a rules panel in the app, shown before you enter, that gives its dates, market and prize; on those three points, that challenge's panel applies.
Organiser. SONIZE SAS, 5 rue Jean-Marie David, 35740 Pacé, France, registered under SIREN 107390304, SIRET 10739030400015, RCS Rennes 107390304, RNE 107390304. Apple and Google do not sponsor, endorse or administer the challenges.
No purchase necessary. Entering, voting and winning are free, and paying for anything does not improve your chances. You can enter with any published song you made in Sonize, including the free song a new account can make, and the same song can enter later challenges. Entering uses no credits. You have one entry per challenge, and you can withdraw or replace it until entries close.
Who can take part. You must be 18 or older and hold an active Sonize account in your own name, with a public profile so that your entry can be shown. One person, one account: entries, votes or prizes obtained through several accounts, fake accounts, or bought or automated votes are void. Each week Sonize assigns you to one challenge market from the country and region of your internet connection, and you take part in that market's challenge; do not hide or falsify your location. Sonize's employees and the members of their household can take part but cannot receive a prize.
How the winner is chosen. There is no draw: the winner is the eligible entry with the most qualified community votes when voting closes, so your chances depend on the number of entries and on the votes each one receives. A vote is qualified only if it comes from an active, verified account that is at least 24 hours old when the vote is cast, and only after that account has listened to the entry long enough after voting opened and before the vote; listens from before voting opened do not count. You cannot vote for your own entry or for an entry from your own account, and each member has at most 3 active votes per challenge. Ties are broken by the number of qualified listeners, then by the average share of the entry they listened to, then by the earliest entry. A winner is chosen only if the challenge has at least 3 eligible entries and at least 10 qualified voters; below either minimum, no winner is chosen and no prize is given. Entries must follow these Terms, including the content rules. Sonize checks votes automatically, may review a challenge by hand, and may exclude votes, entries or accounts that break these rules, before or after the result. Sonize may cancel a challenge that can no longer run fairly; a cancelled challenge has no winner.
Prize. The prize is shown in the challenge's rules panel before you enter; it is currently 100 Sonize credits for a single winner, with an approximate retail value of EUR 19 (the price of 100 credits in credit packs). The credits are added to the winner's account automatically when the result is settled, normally within an hour of the award time shown in the panel and at the latest within 30 days. The prize is personal to the winner: the right to it cannot be transferred or sold, it cannot be exchanged for money, and there is no cash alternative unless the law requires one. Once added, the credits work like the other credits in your account under the Commercial Terms, have no cash value and do not expire. A prize that cannot be given is not passed on to another entrant. The winner is told in the app, and the result stays visible on the challenge page.
Where the prize is given. The challenges and their prize are open in every country, except where the law prevents Sonize from giving the prize. No prize is given to a winner located in or resident of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Crimea, Sevastopol or the areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions not controlled by the Government of Ukraine, or to a person subject to sanctions of the European Union, France, the United Nations, the United Kingdom or the United States. No prize is given in Brazil either, where a promotional prize needs a prior government authorisation that Sonize does not hold. Sonize relies on the country and region of the internet connection, may check winners against sanctions lists and may ask a winner to confirm where they live; if that location wrongly excludes you, write to contact@sonize.io. A winner who cannot receive the prize keeps the win, its badge and its XP. The challenges are void where prohibited by law.
Taxes. The winner pays nothing to receive the prize. Any tax or declaration due on it in the winner's country is the winner's responsibility, unless the law places it on Sonize.
Publicity and data. Your entry, your public profile and the result are shown to the participants of your market and in the archive of past challenges while the song stays public, as the Privacy Policy explains. Sonize uses challenge data to run the challenges and to prevent fraud. Winning does not oblige you to take part in any promotion.
Questions and complaints. Write to contact@sonize.io, if possible within 30 days of the result so that the votes can still be reviewed. “Governing law and disputes” below applies to these rules. Sonize may change these rules for future challenges; a challenge already open keeps the rules that applied when it opened, unless the law or the fight against fraud requires a change.
Billing
Website purchases are sold by SONIZE SAS and processed through Stripe. The order states the total price, duration, renewal, cancellation and withdrawal information before payment. The Commercial Terms apply. For App Store and Google Play purchases, the order and applicable store agreement identify the seller and payment role in your territory. Apple handles App Store refund requests. For Google Play orders, you may contact Google or Sonize; Sonize can refund its own Play orders where applicable. Store procedures do not remove statutory remedies against the responsible seller.

Suspension, termination, and closing your account
You can close your account at any time, on the website and in the mobile app, under Settings, then Privacy, then Delete account. The Account Deletion document explains what is erased, what we must keep, and how to ask if you cannot sign in.
Sonize can restrict a feature — publishing, uploading, generation — or suspend or terminate an account when it breaks these Terms, the AI Music Compliance rules, or the law; when it repeatedly infringes other people's rights or floods the reporting tools with unfounded notices; when it is used for payment fraud or chargeback abuse; or when leaving it open would expose Sonize or other users to a legal or security risk. We choose the narrowest measure that ends the problem.
Except where the law, a court order, or an immediate risk of harm requires us to act first, we tell you what we are doing and why no later than when the measure takes effect, and you can contest it as described in Content rules and moderation. If we terminate your account without you having broken a rule, we give you at least 30 days' notice, you keep the licence in songs already generated, and we refund the unused part of any period you have prepaid and, on your request, the price of purchased credits you have not used and the unused share of any Event Pass.
Warranties and liability
NOTICE TO QUÉBEC CONSUMERS: the warranty exclusions and limitations of liability below do not apply to you. Your mandatory warranties and remedies remain available. Sonize is supplied as it is described in these Terms and in the product. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, that a particular generation will succeed, that a song will match what you had in mind, or that an AI output will be unique or free of resemblance to existing works. Beyond those descriptions we give no warranty.
Sonize is liable for the damage it causes by failing to perform this contract. If you are not a consumer, our total liability for all claims arising in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid Sonize in that period, and we are not liable for lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, or damage that was not foreseeable when the contract was concluded. Those limits do not apply to death or personal injury, to fraud or gross negligence, to the legal guarantee of conformity, or to any liability the law does not allow us to limit. None of those limits and exclusions applies to a consumer: if you are a consumer you are compensated for the loss actually caused, and you keep every mandatory right the law of your country of residence gives you, including the free legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Code de la consommation).
Availability and changes
We may modify the service for valid reasons such as security, compliance, compatibility or improvement. For continuing consumer digital services, changes beyond maintaining conformity must be without additional cost and clearly explained. If a change adversely affects access or use beyond a minor impact, we give advance notice on a durable medium and the applicable right to terminate without charge within 30 days after the notice or change, whichever is later, unless a conforming unchanged version remains available without extra cost. Mandatory local protections apply. Sonize is not a permanent archive; use available exports before closing your account.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms carry a version and a last-updated date, both shown with this document. We can change them to cover a new or changed feature, to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, to close a security risk, or to reflect a change of price or of provider. We publish the new version and give notice of any significant change at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email to the address on your account and in the product. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for: it applies from your next renewal at the earliest, and the renewal notice sent for an annual Plus or Studio plan states the price of the next period. If you do not accept a change, cancel your subscription or close your account before it takes effect; we refund the unused part of any period you have paid for. A change the law requires, or one needed to remove an immediate security or safety risk, can take effect sooner.
Governing law and disputes
NOTICE TO QUÉBEC CONSUMERS: the following French-law clause does not apply to you. Your contract is governed by Québec law and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, that choice cannot deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live (Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, art. 6), you may bring a claim in the courts of that country, and you can be sued only there (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, arts. 17 and 18). If you are not a consumer, jurisdiction follows the ordinary rules of law. A clause giving jurisdiction to the courts of Sonize's registered office binds you only where both of us contracted as traders and the clause was stipulated in very apparent terms in our agreement (art. 48 of the French Code de procédure civile); a professional who is not a trader keeps the ordinary rules of venue. You may, without being required to do so before going to court, write to contact@sonize.io; we answer complaints in writing. An eligible consumer whose complaint is still unresolved may then refer the dispute, free of charge, to the consumer mediator Médiation Cmfm, postal address 19 avenue d'Italie - 75013 Paris, at https://mediationcmfm.eu/.
Language of these Terms. These Terms are written in French, which is their reference version, and are translated into other languages. If the versions differ, a consumer may rely on the version more favourable to them; for anyone else, the French version prevails.
Connected music services
Music-account connections are optional and available only where Sonize offers them. You authorize Sonize to find matching tracks and create the playlists you confirm in your own service account. Uncertain or unavailable tracks are skipped. The service’s access rules, subscription requirements and catalog availability apply. Disconnecting Sonize does not delete playlists already created in that service.
By using Sonize’s YouTube Music connection, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.
Sonize is responsible for its own product and support; Spotify is not responsible for Sonize. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sonize gives no assurances on Spotify’s behalf and excludes implied assurances of satisfactory saleability, suitability for a purpose or freedom from infringement for Spotify’s platform, service and content. You must not modify those resources, make derivative works from them, or reverse engineer, disassemble or decompile them, except where the law permits. Spotify is a beneficiary of these Terms and our Privacy Policy and may enforce these Terms directly. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer rights.
United Kingdom consumers
If you live in the United Kingdom, the mandatory protections of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply. These Terms do not limit your statutory remedies or cancellation rights. The choice of French law does not remove your mandatory local protections or your right to bring proceedings in your competent home courts.
